What can ChatGPT do through TaskRunner?
TaskRunner exposes supported tools for authorized computers, including bounded file, directory, search, process, terminal, configuration and system-status operations. The exact tools available depend on the installed service and permissions.
Can ChatGPT access everything on my computer?
No blanket promise of unrestricted access is required. TaskRunner operations are limited by the installed service, its configured permissions, operating-system access and the tools exposed to the authorized client.
How do I authorize or revoke a computer?
Install TaskRunner from your signed-in Connect page to bind a computer to your account. Use your device and account controls to remove access you no longer want.
Does the computer need to be online?
Yes. Remote operations require the selected TaskRunner computer and its service to be online and connected.
Which operating systems are supported?
The current Connect workflow provides installers for Windows, macOS and Linux x64/ARM64. Individual TaskRunner services and capabilities can vary by platform.
Is Basic really free?
Yes. Basic is the free TaskRunner tier and includes the core MCP service. Additional services belong to Full entitlements.
How is this different from conventional remote desktop?
TaskRunner is designed around structured computer tools that an authorized AI client can invoke. It is not positioned as a screen-sharing replacement; the goal is to let ChatGPT perform supported computer work and return results.
